About Us
Pompano Beach has always had the bones. Named for a fish, incorporated in 1908 as the second oldest city in Broward County, and sitting on 3.5 miles of Gold Coast beachfront — the city spent decades underestimated before the rest of South Florida caught on. Now it is one of the region’s most-watched emerging destinations: a redesigned fishing pier, a revitalized Old Town arts district anchored by the Bailey Contemporary Arts building, Pompano Fishing Village on the waterfront, and a population that swells from 115,000 year-round to 150,000 at peak season. Pompano Beach isn’t becoming something new — it’s becoming what it was always capable of being.
Artbag works the same way. We restore what was always there. Founded in 1932 in New York City and now based at 927 N. University Drive in Coral Springs, Artbag is approximately 20 minutes northwest of Pompano Beach via Sample Road or Atlantic Boulevard. Three generations of master craftsmen. Over 90 years of restoring what others had given up on.
Pompano Beach sits on the Atlantic Ocean — 3.5 miles of direct coastal frontage means persistent salt air that corrodes designer hardware faster than almost any inland environment. The same Atlantic breeze drawing visitors to the pier carries chloride particles that attack the brass on a Louis Vuitton lock, the gold plating on a Chanel chain, and the nickel fittings on a Gucci clasp within months rather than years. Year-round humidity peaking at 85–90% through summer creates mold conditions inside stored bags and causes leather coatings to fail silently. Florida’s UV intensity bleaches luxury leather faster than any temperate climate. Hurricane season, June through November, adds flooding and rapid humidity spikes. For Pompano Beach’s year-round residents and its 150,000-strong peak season community, professional leather care is not optional.

Very quickly. Direct Atlantic coast exposure means salt air corrodes brass and gold-plated hardware on designer bags far faster than inland cities. We see Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Gucci hardware develop visible corrosion within one to two seasons in Pompano Beach. Annual professional hardware inspection and cleaning is our standard recommendation for bags kept within a mile of the water.
