About Us
Lauderdale Lakes was incorporated in 1961 on land that had been farms and grazing fields, with about 300 residents and a fire station that was a parking lot. Sixty years later, it is one of the most distinctly Caribbean cities in the United States — with the highest percentage of West Indian ancestry in all of Broward County, the highest Jamaican population of any city in Florida, and a Haitian community representing nearly a third of all residents. That transformation happened because Lauderdale Lakes sits at the crossroads of State Road 7 and Oakland Park Boulevard — the geographic heart of Broward County — and because communities put down roots and made it home. In Jamaican and Haitian culture, a quality handbag is earned, displayed with intention, and worth protecting for decades.
Artbag has been protecting pieces like that since 1932 — long before Lauderdale Lakes was incorporated. Our Coral Springs workshop at 927 N. University Drive is approximately 15 minutes east via Oakland Park Boulevard or Commercial Boulevard.
Lauderdale Lakes sits inland — several miles from the Atlantic coast — but South Florida’s subtropical climate is not a coastal phenomenon. Year-round humidity levels peak at 85–90% through summer, creating the ideal conditions for mold to develop inside stored bags, leather surfaces to degrade quietly, and hardware to corrode on pieces that haven’t been taken out in months. Florida’s UV intensity bleaches and degrades luxury leather faster than any temperate climate. Hurricane season from June through November brings flooding risk and sudden humidity spikes throughout all of Broward County, including fully inland cities. A Louis Vuitton kept in a Lauderdale Lakes closet faces the same subtropical threat as one stored near the beach.

Transform your favorite handbag with custom alterations tailored to your needs. Whether adjusting strap lengths, reinforcing handles, modifying interiors, or improving everyday usability, our alteration services maintain the elegance and craftsmanship of your designer accessory.

Florida’s tropical climate can be especially harsh on luxury leather goods. Our specialized cleaning and refinishing services safely remove dirt, stains, oils, and environmental buildup while restoring color, softness, and overall appearance without compromising delicate materials.

We provide professional form restoration services to help bags that have lost their shape. Using specialized techniques and custom-made forms, we can restore the original silhouette and structure of your luxury handbags, ensuring they maintain their intended design and appearance.

Service Details for Lauderdale Lakes Clients
Artbag was founded in New York City in 1932 — a city whose Jamaican and Haitian communities have trusted us for decades, long before we relocated to South Florida. The values that drive Lauderdale Lakes — hard work, community pride, and taking care of what matters — are the same values that have guided three generations of the Moore family. Hillel Tenenbaum founded Artbag. Donald Moore built it. Chris Moore, our third-generation master craftsman, brought it to Coral Springs in 2022. Ninety-plus years of museum-quality restoration, available 15 minutes from Lauderdale Lakes.

Yes. Artbag was founded in New York City in 1932 — a city whose Jamaican and Haitian communities have been among our clients for generations. Whether it is a Louis Vuitton Neverfull carried daily, a Gucci that was a milestone gift, or a vintage bag passed through a family, we treat every piece with the same museum-quality care. A bag that represents hard work and pride deserves nothing less.
Absolutely. South Florida’s subtropical humidity affects all of Broward County, not just coastal areas. Year-round humidity at 85–90% during summer creates mold, leather degradation, and hardware corrosion in fully inland homes. Hurricane season adds flooding and humidity spikes. A bag stored in a Lauderdale Lakes closet faces the same climate pressures as one kept near the beach.
