Davie is the only place in South Florida where you can ride a horse past a western-themed downtown, five miles from the Atlantic Ocean and five miles from the Everglades. That is not an accident. In 1962, the Town of Davie formally codified its western identity into its development regulations — requiring western architectural elements downtown, protecting equestrian zoning, and establishing the trail system that now spans more than 165 miles. The Bergeron Rodeo Grounds has hosted rodeos since 1946. The Old Davie School, opened in 1918, is the oldest existing school building in Broward County. Davie built its character deliberately, and it has kept it. Florida’s largest town by population — 110,000 residents across 35 square miles — looks like no other suburb in the state.
Artbag serves the Town of Davie from our Coral Springs workshop at 927 N. University Drive — approximately 20 minutes northeast via I-595 or Griffin Road to University Drive. Three generations of master craftsmen, serving one of Broward County’s most distinctive communities since we relocated to South Florida in 2022.
Davie’s position — five miles from the Atlantic and five miles from the Everglades — places it in one of South Florida’s most humidity-saturated corridors. The town has a tropical monsoon climate, with summer humidity regularly reaching 85–90% and an Everglades-adjacent moisture profile that keeps ambient humidity elevated year-round. These conditions create ideal environments for mold inside stored bags, leather surface failure, and accelerated hardware corrosion on any designer piece left unattended. Florida’s UV intensity bleaches and degrades luxury leather significantly faster than any temperate climate. Hurricane season, running June through November, adds flooding risk and sudden humidity spikes. A Hermès or Louis Vuitton stored in a Davie home — whether near the equestrian trails or the Nova Southeastern University campus — faces South Florida’s full subtropical force.

Davie made a deliberate choice about its character and honored it for more than 60 years. Artbag made the same kind of choice in 1932, when Hillel Tenenbaum founded it in New York City on the principle that quality craftsmanship does not cut corners. Donald Moore joined in 1959. Chris Moore — our third-generation master craftsman — relocated to Coral Springs in 2022, continuing a practice that has outlasted trends, recessions, and every repair shop that tried to rush the work.

Yes, meaningfully. Davie’s equestrian communities in the western sections experience elevated ambient humidity from the Everglades corridor — similar to the moisture challenges of the coastal strip, but from a different direction. Additionally, equestrian environments introduce organic particulates and ammonia compounds that can accelerate leather surface degradation on bags stored in tack rooms, stables, or nearby. We recommend professional cleaning and conditioning annually for bags kept in active equestrian households.
Yes. Nova Southeastern University, Broward College, and the broader South Florida Education Center bring a highly educated community to Davie. We serve faculty, administrators, and residents across the university corridor who carry designer bags as everyday pieces. Our mail-in service is also popular with NSU graduate students who send bags from out of state.
